The town of Bevagna was once the ancient Mevania Post on the Consular Via Flaminia. It was both an Umbrian town and a thriving Roman municipality. A Longobard Steward-ruled settlement, in 774 the town became part of the Church State.
After many events, the Trinci family of Foligno imposed their role from 1371 until 1439, when Bevagna became subject to Papal governors. In 1860, Church domination ceased and Bevagna became part of the Kingdom of Italy.
Every year, in June, In The shows take place , between the end of July and the beginning of August, in the towns of Castiglione del Lago, Magione and Tuoro sul Trasimeno.
